End Ship

The End Ship is a flying galleon moored beside an end city, holding the only naturally generated Elytra. It generates in the End, across 2 biome types - End Midlands and End Highlands - which makes the End Ship rare to come across as you explore.

Height-wise the End Ship sits in the Y 50 to Y 100 band, which narrows down where to look. End ships are an optional extension of an end city - only some cities have one - so they share the End-city /locate target. The ship floats next to the tallest tower, out over the void, and must be bridged or pearled to from the city.

Added back in Minecraft 1.9, its most recognisable trait is captured in one line: floating ship attached to end city.

On Java Edition the quickest method is the command /locate structure minecraft:end_city, which prints the coordinates of the nearest End Ship and the distance to it.

Without commands, head for one of the End Ship's biomes (End Midlands and End Highlands) and search the Y 50 to 100 band. Because it is rare, a long expedition is likely before you reach a End Ship, so bring food and gear.

Use /locate structure minecraft:end_city (end ships are attached to end cities). Not all end cities have ships. Look for the ship floating beside the tallest end city tower. Bridge across or use ender pearls to reach it.

Once inside, two chests aboard roll the same enriched diamond/iron gear as the city, but the ship's draw is fixed: an Elytra in an item frame in the lower deck, a Dragon Head on the bow, and a brewing stand stocked with Potion of Healing II.

Some rewards here are guaranteed every time: Elytra (1), Dragon Head (1), and Instant Health Potion II (2). Those are not random rolls - the End Ship always provides them, which is a big part of why it is worth seeking out.

Among the End Ship's randomised drops, the most common pulls are Iron Ingot at about 23%, Diamond at about 21%, Gold Ingot at about 15%, and Enchanted Diamond Sword at about 13%. At the other end of the odds sit the jackpot items: Emerald at roughly 9% and Enchanted Diamond Sword at roughly 13%, so opening multiple End Ship chests pays off over time.

What makes the End Ship genuinely worth the trip is a set of exclusive rewards you cannot get reliably anywhere else - Elytra and Dragon Head - so this is the place to come for them.

Expect to face Shulker inside or around the End Ship.

The specific hazards to plan around: Shulker levitation over the void and falling into the void. There is more to watch for too - must navigate the attached end city first and limited blocks to bridge to the ship - so do not rush.

The vessel has an obsidian launch platform at its base, a lower deck holding the Elytra item frame, brewing stand, and treasure chests, and a Dragon Head mounted on the prow. Shulkers guard the approach, and there is no floor beneath the ship - only the void.
